Terms and Conditions

By purchasing an admission ticket, the purchaser acknowledges the General Terms and Conditions and the Dresden Zoo regulations. Visitors may only enter Dresden Zoo during normal opening hours, at the designated entrances and with a valid admission ticket.

1. Admission prices

Admission prices are set by the Supervisory Board of Zoo Dresden GmbH.  These prices are clearly displayed at the entrance to the zoo. There are different categories:  We differentiate between adults, concessions, children and families. Discounts and group rates are shown on the price list. The admission price must be paid immediately at the nearest ticket office. Cashless payment in euros is, of course, also accepted. In exceptional cases, payment by invoice may be agreed.Different admission prices may be set for events. In this case, there is no entitlement to the normal admission prices. This does not apply to annual passholders.

2. Day tickets

The purchase of a day ticket entitles you to once-only admission to Dresden Zoo during the period of validity printed on the day ticket.

All day tickets must be scanned (validated) at the entrance when entering the zoo and retained afterwards. You must carry your admission ticket with you during the entire visit to the zoo and present it on request.

Day tickets lose their validity when you leave the zoo. You may not re-enter the zoo, even within the admission ticket’s general validity period.

If you have a day ticket and you wish to purchase an annual pass, the price of this day ticket can only be set off against the price of an annual pass of the same category on the date of the visit. This means that a family day ticket can only be changed to a family annual pass, and an adult day ticket to an adult annual pass.

This can only be done on the same day – the date of the visit – and is not possible retroactively.

Day tickets that have been purchased without authorisation or misused lose their validity and must be returned to Zoo Dresden GmbH without substitution. The persons concerned will be excluded from visiting the zoo in future and will face criminal charges.

3. Annual passes

Different annual passes are available for adults, concessions, children and families.

The annual pass grants the person named on it admission to Dresden Zoo during normal opening hours for one year from the date of the first visit. Annual passholders generally have free admission to all events. This does not apply, however, to evening events or special events.

Original annual passes must be presented at the zoo entrance and are then scanned. Annual passes are personal and non-transferable. They are only valid in conjunction with current photo ID.

The purchase of an annual pass does not entitle the holder to the daily opening of the zoo during the validity period of the pass.

All family members must be present when family annual passes are issued.

Family annual passes can be used separately by each passholder, however children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the zoo. Children aged between 10 and 12 must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian in order to visit the zoo unaccompanied.

If you cannot present your annual pass, you will have to purchase a day ticket for the day of your visit.

You are not entitled to a replacement if you lose your annual pass.

Annual passes that have been purchased without authorisation or misused (e.g. passed on to unauthorised third parties) lose their validity and must be returned to Zoo Dresden GmbH without substitution. The persons concerned will be excluded from visiting the zoo in future and will face criminal charges.

4. Vouchers for specific products or services

The zoo only sells vouchers for a specific product, e.g. day tickets or annual passes of various categories, or for a specific service, e.g. guided tours.

These vouchers may only be redeemed for the specific product or service at Dresden Zoo. The holder of the voucher is not entitled to have it paid out, to offset its value against other charges, or to gain interest on it.

Zoo Dresden GmbH will not issue a replacement voucher or accept any liability if the voucher is lost.

These vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase.

With regard to the purchase of vouchers for day tickets, annual passes and guided tours of the zoo of any kind, the zoo accepts no liability for any damage resulting from misuse of the vouchers, unless such damage was due to an intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty by

Zoo Dresden GmbH, its legal representatives or vicarious agents.

Vouchers for family day tickets are limited to one same-day visit to the zoo and can only be redeemed on this particular date.

In the case of vouchers for annual passes, the annual pass is valid from the date on which the voucher is redeemed.

When redeeming vouchers for family annual passes, all family members must be present when the annual pass is issued. The annual pass is valid for all family members from the date on which the first voucher is redeemed. This means that even if individual family members are not issued their annual pass until a later date, the same validity start date applies to them, i.e. the date on which the first voucher is redeemed by a family member. Unredeemed vouchers held by the remaining family members expire one year after the initial start of validity (the date on which the first voucher was redeemed).

Vouchers that involve discounts can only be redeemed for the respective product (day tickets and annual passes) if the eligibility requirements are still met at the time the voucher is redeemed. The holder of the voucher is obligated to provide proof of eligibility when redeeming their voucher.

Vouchers for guided tours do not include admission to Dresden Zoo.

5. Return of admission tickets

Admission tickets and vouchers of any kind cannot be returned.

6. Resale/misuse of admission tickets/vouchers

The resale of admission tickets and vouchers of any kind, and the commercial use of such, is prohibited. Admission tickets and vouchers of any kind that have been purchased without authorisation or misused lose their validity and will be confiscated by Zoo Dresden GmbH without substitution.

Zoo Dresden GmbH charges a hire fee and a deposit (see price lists) for the use of a handcart. Your deposit will only be refunded if you return the handcart chip.
