The reticulated pythons move into the orangutan house

Animal news | 25 May 2024

Two reticulated pythons from the reptile rescue centre in Munich have found a new home with us. The new arrivals are male and have been named Josef and Felix. At 16.2 kg, Josef is almost twice as heavy as Felix, who weighs in at 9.2 kg. We do not know the ages of the two giant snakes. The two know each other and get on well, so they can live together in the same enclosure.

The opening date for the orangutan house in June is not far off. It’s almost ready! We are currently in the tricky phase of moving our residents in and getting them settled. 90% of the animals are already in their new homes and are becoming accustomed to their new surroundings, new noises and new living environments. The definitive opening date will be announced next week, along with information on the orangutans’ move
