Giraffe enclosure expansion

The moment has finally arrived: work is starting on the expansion of our giraffe enclosure. Thanks to the fantastic support of so many people connected to the zoo, we’ve now reached our fundraising target and are ready to launch the project. Today marked the official start of construction work here at Dresden Zoo. The first step will be the dismantling of the former terrarium to free up even more space for our Kordofan giraffes and zebras. This is expected to be completed by mid-April. During the construction phase, the giraffes’ outdoor enclosure will be surrounded by construction hoarding and reduced in size temporarily. The giraffes and zebras are therefore using the outdoor area separately at the moment. We kindly ask for your understanding during this transitional period. We’re already looking forward to being able to offer our animals significantly more space and new enrichment opportunities in the near future.
