World Otter Day

They are the secret stars at our zoo: our smooth otters in the orangutan house are a delight with their playful, lively behaviour. We are therefore delighted to be taking part in World Otter Day for the first time this year. On 29 May (Ascension Day) and on 1 June for Children’s Day, an interesting programme awaits to motivate people to protect these charismatic predators and to give young and old zoo visitors fascinating insights into the world of otters.

From 10 am to 5 pm:

• Action and information stand of the zoo scouts
  Otter puzzle
  Colouring & craft surprises
  Animal keeper meeting points with our smooth otters in the orangutan house:

11:00 a.m.: Ice bomb in the indoor enclosure at the large underwater disc
15:00: Feeding in the outdoor enclosure

We will also be announcing the names of our three smooth otter cubs born on 24 January.
